Background

The flight experience has some different diseases, related all of these to the boarding and disembarking moments. For example, while boarding finding the booked sit can be challenging, especially on overcrowded planes. The same can happen when the users have to store their handbags. In the same way, disembarking has different challenges: claiming the luggage could be hard and generate frustrations and obstructions in the people flow; in the same way, everybody on the plane wants to disembark fast, quickly and at the same time.

CHALLENGE

Enhance people flow > Solve the problem in time spent on luggage storage/claim and on finding the booked seats, enhancing the movements on board and reducing time spent in boarding and disembarking.

FRaMING THE IDEA

The definition of some design requirements led us to the final design:

  • Clarify the storage of luggage with respect to the booked seat;
  • Increased connectivity between seat and handbag storage;
  • Move the safety pieces of stuff and luggage lockers;
  • Design a connection between the seat and the locker;
  • Reserved space for the handbag;
  • Improve communication of the lockers for correct usage;
  • Use an alternative way of entrance or more doors.
